Digital Art & Prints

I have been a traditional photographer for over 50 years, shooting with medium and large format film, hand processing my film, and printing silver gelatin prints in the darkroom. In 1988 I embarked on a decades long photo project by taking formal portraits of Deadheads in a portable studio I set up in parking lots at Grateful Dead concerts. I took portraits of around 150 individuals over a four year period. Then, in 2015, I began searching for the original subjects again. Over a 10 year period, I found and re-photographed 40 of the original subjects. Then, hired David Gans to have recorded conversations with each of them and write each subject's story. The result is a book titled 'Aging Gratefully: Deadheads Then and Now'.
